The short answer

Most heating repairs in Charlotte cost $190 to $700. Common causes are a failed igniter, a dirty flame sensor, a cracked heat exchanger, or a failed blower motor. A cracked heat exchanger is a carbon monoxide risk: shut the system off immediately.

Sound familiar?

If you are seeing any of these, this is the page you want.

  • Blowing cold air when the heat is calling
  • The furnace ignites, then shuts off after a minute
  • A burning smell that does not clear after the first run of the season
  • Clicking with no ignition
  • The blower runs constantly and never stops
  • A yellow burner flame instead of blue
  • Your carbon monoxide alarm has gone off

Questions we get

My carbon monoxide alarm went off. What do I do?

Get everyone out of the house first, then call 911 or the gas company from outside. Do not go back in to investigate. Once the house is cleared, call us and we will inspect the system before it goes back on.

Is it worth repairing a 15-year-old furnace?

Sometimes. It depends on the part that failed and the condition of the heat exchanger. We will tell you honestly, and since nobody here works on commission, that answer is not tilted toward a sale.

Do you work on heat pumps as well as gas furnaces?

Yes, along with electric strip heat and dual-fuel systems. Heat pumps behave differently in a hard freeze and a lot of Charlotte homeowners get told their system is broken when it is doing exactly what it should.

Erin Fitzgerald

Our furnace was doing something alarming and the tech shut it down immediately, showed me a hairline crack in the heat exchanger, and explained the carbon monoxide risk in plain English without being dramatic about it. We replaced it that week. I genuinely think they may have prevented something serious.

Ronald Meeks

We are on propane out here and the last company set it up wrong. Kessler caught incomplete combustion on a routine visit and corrected the orifices. They ran a CO test without me asking.

Odette Laurent

Flame sensor was filthy. Cleaned, tested, done in under an hour. Charged me the minimum.

Your AC quit. Cold air by tonight.

Two ways to start. Pick whichever suits the state you are in right now.
